Why is Thank Your Vicar Week needed?

Making a donation means St Luke's can care for your vicar's health and wellbeing when needed

More than just a job

Being a vicar is much more than a job – it’s a calling. Clergy care for and nurture their parish 24/7 and are available to all, in times of great happiness and sadness. This often comes at a price to them and their families, with irregular hours and never truly being ‘off duty’.

When schools and parishes celebrate their clergy’s work with Thank Your Vicar Week, clergy tell us they are deeply touched and encouraged in their role. This has a positive effect on their wellbeing and their ministry.

You never know in ministry just what effect you have and the job can be quite isolating. To have some kind of affirmation is lovely.Parish priest, Diocese of London

Who cares for your vicar?

Clergy are not superhuman in the way they respond to illness or stress. St Luke’s is here to help your vicar and their family when they need care themselves – whether healthcare or wellbeing training.

Help us to help clergy

Your donation to Thank Your Vicar Week means St Luke’s can continue to be there for clergy when support is needed. We rely entirely on donations and receive no funding from the Church of England.
